On behalf of HHL alumnus Dr. Friedmar Schütze (P9) you are warmly invited to a guest lecture dedicated to the topic “The Cash Flow Rating Approach for Ship Financing”.
Friedmar will hold the guest lecture on Saturday, March 11 at 3 pm. The guest lecture is taking place at Seminar Room 9 (Schmalenbach Building). And you are most welcome to join and to bring along friends who might be interested in the topic that covers the following:
Recent events, like the bankruptcy of the South Korean Hanjin Shipping in August 2016, the takeover of Bremer Landesbank by NordLB due to severe difficulties in the ship portfolio or AP Moller-Maersk unveiling one of the biggest losses in its history at the beginning of February 2017, have brought evidence that the shipping business and the connected ship financing remain challenging with respect to the business valuation and credit risk management. The talk briefly explains the ideas behind ratings and introduces the cash flow rating method at the example of ship financing. The merits as well as the limits of this rating method are outlined and a simple model is illustrated hands-on by means of a small applet.
Please register on the alumni platform if you are planning to join.
