The HHL Alumni Association e.V. (HHLAA) is the official association of alumni of HHL who have graduated after HHL's reestablishment in 1992 and the foundation of HHLAA in 1997.

HHL and HHL Alumni

As Germany's oldest business school HHL continues to be one of the country’s leading management institutions, offering international business education based on elite academic standards. HHL's alumni network comprises more than 2,500 professionals in over 75 different countries. Many of them hold senior positions in major industries and, with over 250 established start-ups within the last 20 years, they are also recognized as dynamic entrepreneurs.

Purpose of HHLAA

The purpose of the HHLAA is to promote the welfare of HHL and to establish a mutually beneficial relationship between HHL and its alumni. The HHLAA helps alumni connect with their alma mater and with fellow graduates through online services such as a global directory, events and activities as well as continuing education programs. One of the main events organized by HHLAA is the yearly Homecoming, where all HHL alumni are invited to Leipzig to meet up with fellow students, professors and faculty staff again. Moreover, regional events are conducted throughout the year all over Europe. In addition, the HHL Alumni Association sponsors selected student initiatives and administers student awards.

Members of HHLAA

HHLAA's "Regular Members" include recipients of all degrees (Diploma, MSc, MBA and Ph.D.) granted by HHL after HHL's re-establishment in 1992 and the foundation of HHLAA in 1997. Former students, who have studied at HHL but not received a degree, may become "Associate Members" , and current students, who are still studying at HHL but have not yet graduated, may register themselves as "Member Candidates", each in accordance with the regulations set forth in HHLAA's statutes. Associate Members and Member Candidates are granted access to all parts of HHLAA's web portal, they may take part in any activities of HHLAA and may attend any meetings but they may not vote in general assemblys and cannot become board members.

Organizational Structure of HHLAA

The main work of the HHLAA is carried out on a voluntary basis by the members of the Board, by the heads of the regional Chapters and Shared Interest Groups (SIGs) as well as by other volunteers. All members are welcome to participate in its General Assemblys, where the major decisions (e.g. the election of Board members, the approval of budgets as well as significant strategic decisions) of the HHL Alumni Association are taken and/or to run for a membership in the Board of HHLAA.
